According to the key highlights of the 2022 Waste and Recycling Statistics by The National Environment Agency Singapore, there was an approximate 254,000 tonnes of textile waste, of which only 2% is recycled. There is a lack of knowledge among individuals about the environmental concerns and impacts on society. The team embarked on a campaign to encourage participation from diverse generation groups in repurposing old T-shirts into DIY Tote Bags, thereby fostering collective efforts towards environmental sustainability. The goal is to inspire individuals from different age groups to actively participate in the creative and sustainable transformation of old clothings.
